Lime Green Pants

Today I saw an old man, definitely in his 80’s maybe even 90’s, walking on the sidewalk in front of a Peet’s Coffee. He was wearing lime green pants. And it struck me that I did not think this was odd. Why is that? Anyone else wearing lime green pants would have been unusual.

It made me wonder what I will be wearing, if I’m lucky enough to: (a) live that long; and (b) be ambulatory. Will I be puttering around with my walker in my Diesel jeans, Doc Martens, and hoodie sweatshirt? Or is there some secret store run by the AARP where all the old men go to buy their official "I’m old and I’m going to wear these lime green pants to prove it" pants?

To be clear, I am not trying to put down the old man in the lime green pants. I thought it was pretty cool, actually. Just the fact that he was out there taking a walk and enjoying the sunshine. I hope I’ll be able to do that, with or without my lime green pants (well, hopefully pants of some color!)
