Dumb and Dumber

Ferraro & SpitzerNot much to say about the fall of Eliot Spitzer. I admired what he had done as the A.G. of New York. He was even a potential future presidential candidate. Why would he hurt his family and sacrifice his career like he did? I have no idea. He’s a fool. I’m sure he knows it, at least I hope he does!

Geraldine Ferraro: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color), he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

What? Why not? Is he stupid or otherwise not qualified to be president? Maybe Ms. Ferraro has forgotten that Barack Obama is not the first African American man to run for president. They didn’t get very far.

Maybe she’s forgotten that there were several other candidates in the democratic primaries who have dropped out. It’s not like Obama hasn’t had a lot of competition.

Does she forget that Hillary Clinton is the first woman who’s managed to make a serious run for president? Since Obama has more delegates, does that mean "black" beats "woman"? Give me a break!

Maybe Ms. Ferraro has forgotten that Obama won the Iowa caucuses. Maybe she forgot that Iowa is only 2.5% black. Iowa is when people really began to take notice of Barack Obama. Prior to that, Hillary Clinton was the freight train on her way to the nomination.

Then she goes on to say, in defense of her statement above, "Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let’s address reality and the problems we’re facing in this world, you’re accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they’re attacking me because I’m white. How’s that?"

Uhhhh, sorry Ms. Ferraro, no matter how you meant your comment to be taken, it’s very easy to interpret it as racist because it doesn’t make any sense in light of the facts.
